Bec Wares - Houghton Conquest & Haynes Ward

As a candidate for the upcoming election, I thought I'd share a little about myself:

I have lived in Houghton Conquest since 2010 and have felt that our community would benefit from a fresh, more active approach from our Unitary Authority representatives.

This has prompted me to stand for the first time as an independent candidate, for the Houghton Conquest and Haynes Ward of Central Bedfordshire Council.

My main aims are to:
  • Highlight the most pressing needs of our community
  • Provide residents a forum for their voices to be heard
  • Protect and improve local amenities and services including infrastructure
  • Champion the use of Section 106 funds from the various developments in the ward on useful and long-lasting projects that answer specific needs of the community
  • Provide thoughtful and pragmatic solutions to crime prevention
  • Address the issue of speeding in our villages
  • Press for better maintenance of roads and pavements
  • Apply common sense to planning applications
I will gather the collective thoughts and concerns of local people by both attending the meetings of both parish councils in the ward and by direct communication with local residents themselves.
